Before the time of expensive blood analyzers, complicated antigen test and noninvasive imaging machines, the veterinarian used the fine art of a good exam. Because of technology, some modern doctors make the mistake of rushing the exam and relying on the technology to find all the problems.
At Willow Creek Veterinary Service, P.C., we hold tight to the importance of the complete and thorough exam. No matter the animal, we like to begin every exam with a complete history. The history gives the owner a chance to explain in complete confidence, the problems they have been seeing with the patient. Often times the veterinarian will ask important questions about many of the parts of the history so that the history becomes clear and has the ability to give the doctor as much information as possible. From the history, the doctor will often begin the actual physical exam. From a distance, the physical exam looks very simplistic.
